Overview
Our client is a busy nonprofit based in southwest Calgary and operating through the province. Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a senior leadership role with fiscal oversight of all financial and management reporting, accounting, tax, budgeting, planning, controls, capital spend, and banking. Supervise four staff. Collaborate with other senior leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full cycle accounting including preparation of financial statements and analysis
- Cash flow forecasting
- Review all transactions, AP, AR, expenditures
- Review operating costs
- Manage and develop financial controls, other governance
- Develop annual operating and capital budgets
- Corporate and project fiscal strategy advisory
- Business process and financial policy improvement
- Complete/co-ordinate all income and other tax returns
- Bank reconciliations
- Bi-weekly cheque runs
- Fixed asset accounting, i.e., acquisitions, disposals, retirement, transfers
- Audit all corporate credit card transactions
- Co-ordinate annual external audit
- Manage adoption and use of financial software
- Occasional travel
REQUIREMENTS
- Finance and Accounting function oversight experience
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and risk management principles
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Relevant post-secondary education, and CPA preferred
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
