Financial Analyst

Overview

Our client is a mid-sized public oil & gas company based in Calgary.  Currently there is a need to add a Financial Analyst to the team. This is a full-time opportunity reporting to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the month end process including preparing the Company’s internal financials and supporting workpapers including; G&A accruals, interest accruals, ARO, depletion, E&E & foreign exchange;
  • Analyzing impacts of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on existing and new transactions. Will have a key role in the implementation of the S1 and S1 standards;
  • Prepare the Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements;
  • Maintain and test the Company’s internal controls;
  • Prepare the Company’s annual tax filings
  • Prepare monthly analysis of operating results;
  • Prepare a monthly cash forecast and bank reconciliation;
  • Liaising with auditors; and
  • Ad hoc reporting and projects as required.

Requirements:

  • A recent or near completion of a CPA designation
  • IFRS experience within a public practice required
  • Experience with the Oil and Gas industry preferred
  • Critical thinker and extremely detail oriented
  • Team Player with strong interpersonal skills, able to be flexible and work well with others
