Accounts Payable Supervisor

Overview:

Our client was founded in 2013 and is a public, growing midsized oil & gas exploration and production company, headquartered in downtown Calgary, with operations focused in Central Alberta.   ~100 staff.   ~20K boepd. Company growth has led to this hiring need.

You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounts payable department and work collaboratively with outside vendors and other departments within the organization to effectively utilize Open Ticket / Open Invoice in invoicing and ticketing procedures while also contributing in ongoing efforts towards continuous improvement in the accounting department.   Forecast volume is 40,000 invoices per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing staff workload and queries
  • Responsible for onboarding new vendors in Open Ticket and Open Invoice
  • Responsible for responding to vendor’s queries
  • Reviewing and coding invoices for appropriate approvals and documentation in Open Invoice
  • Recording manual invoices in the accounting system (Pandell JV4)
  • Providing ad-hoc reporting, process improvements, and assisting with assigned special projects

Requirements:

  • Experience with OpenInvoice and OpenTicket a strong preference; experience with financial s/w Pandell JV4 nice to have
  • 7 to 10+ years upstream oil & gas accounts payable work experience required
  • Superior full cycle operations accounting skills a strong preference, e.g., ability to decide whether an item is booked to G&A versus Capital
  • Prior experience supervising staff and managing processes a strong preference
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), required
  • Strong Excel skills, e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, required
  • Preference for post-secondary accounting education
