Overview

Our client is a mid-size/large public oil & gas services company with operations in Canada, the US and Internationally.  Currently they have a need to add an Intermediate Accountant to their team.  This is a full-time role reporting to the Accounting Manager out of the Calgary downtown office.  

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for full cycle accounting and for providing support primarily to the Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable Team Lead. Specific duties include:

  • Assist in month-end close procedures, preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Prepare prepaid reconciliations and associated journal entries.
  • Assist in the verification and entry of journal entries for intercompany transactions, prepaid and accruals.
  • Preparation of monthly audit reconciliations/reconciliation binder for Canada, and US.
  • Input of various monthly journal entries (i.e. HR, etc.) as necessary.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Sub-Ledger for Canada, including posting the monthly addition, disposal, and depreciation entries
  • Prepare the monthly fixed asset disposal report and fixed asset proof schedule for Canada.
  • Prepare the monthly disposal summary reports and distribute to department leads and executive team.
  • Provide asset valuations for shipments as required.
  • Reconciliation of Intercompany accounts.
  • Run Monthly Inventory Audit Reports for Canada & USA comparing it to the general ledger and investigating any discrepancies.
  • Assist in the yearly CSOX testing for the company
  • Assist in the quarterly and year end audit.
  • Assist AP with posting fixed asset invoices in SAP as needed.
  • Assist Senior General Accountant and Cost Analyst with the monthly job costing report.
  • Assist other duties or projects as requested by Corporate Controller as needed.
  • Assist other departments with various projects when time permits.
  • Perform all duties so as to meet the responsibilities listed in the health and safety handbook.
  • Perform duties according to the Company’s quality system procedures and work instructions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years related accounting experience
  • Full cycle accounting experience
  • Fixed Asset experience a must
  • Strong Excel experience a must (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
  • Solid keyboarding skills with proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication skills
