Operations Accountant (6-month-contract)

Overview

Our client is a mid-size/large public oil & gas services company with operations in Canada, the US and Internationally.  Currently they have a need to add an Operations Accountant to their team.  This is a 6-month-contract with the potential to be permanent.   Our client is in deep SE Calgary and requires 5 days a week in office.

Responsibilities:

The Operations Accountant is accountable for entering relevant data into accounting spreadsheets, resolving any mud, motor and equipment rental related issues, and assisting in month end tasks. In addition, this individual provides vacation and other absence coverage support to the Operations Accounting Department. Specific duties include:

  • Receive motor return reports for Canada and USA, pull any relating backup documentation and update service tracking spreadsheets
  • Generate customer billing summaries from motor service app and Power BI and forward for approval.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany shipments, communicate effectively with inventory team and prepare required journal entries.
  • Review servicing transactions to ensure all items have been transacted properly, contact appropriate personnel for all discrepancies, and work to resolve errors and omissions
  • Update tool service tracking spreadsheets with appropriate costs for Canada and USA and highlight completed services
  • Address motor billing queries from other departments
  • Receive approved CDN&USA Rental invoices, code and post in SAP
  • Eliminate from CDN & USA Equipment Rental Log
  • Update Equipment rental logs with Delivery/Return tickets
  • Scanning and filing of various accounting documents and service billings
  • Assist with month end tasks within the required accounting schedule deadlines
  • Assist with coverage of other administrative duties during vacation or other absences
  • Assist other departments with various projects when time permits
  • Perform all duties to meet the responsibilities listed in the Employee and Corporate HSE Handbooks
  • Perform duties according to the Company’s quality system procedures and work instructions

Requirements:

  • Accounting degree
  • In initial stages or considering CPA
  • 3 years accounting experience
  • Proficient in using Excel functions and formulas for data analysis and reporting
  • Very organized, analytical, and detail-oriented individual
  • Solid communication skills
  • Previous industry related experience is an asset
