Reporting to the Head of North American Finance, you will be responsible for building and evolving a unified Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable shared services function for Canada and the United States. Various coding and processes will be made consistent and efficiencies will be achieved.   The role plays a critical part in strengthening transactional accounting operations across North America.   Existing AP/AR staff will move from reporting to various managers, to all report under this new position.

You will provide end‑to‑end leadership over AP and AR operations, develop a high‑performing team, and work closely with Finance leadership and operational stakeholders to improve efficiency and strengthen controls. A core mandate of the position is to align and standardize processes across regions, leveraging systems and automation to improve efficiency and scalability.

Duties

Shared Services Operations

  • Manage end‑to‑end AP and AR operations for both Canadian and U.S. entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong service levels across multiple business units.
  • Trade partners include customers, global tour operators, manufacturers, service partners
  • Monitor cash flow related to receivables and payables, including monitoring aging, identifying risks or trends and provide insights and reporting to Finance leadership.
  • Establish consistent standards and performance metrics across regions.
  • Support month‑end and period‑end reconciliation and close activities, ensuring GL AP and AR balances are accurate, complete, and aligned with reporting timelines and internal controls
  • Perform journal entries including adjustments  

Systems & Process Ownership

  • Act as the regional business owner for AP/AR within Microsoft Dynamics 365, partnering with internal and global teams to ensure effective system use.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve scalability.
  • Support testing and issue resolution prior to the global D365 team deploying updates.

Process Alignment & Improvement

  • Lead the alignment of Canadian and U.S. AP/AR processes where practical, while maintaining flexibility for regional requirements.
  • Identify and implement best practices and standard operating procedures across shared services.
  • Maintain a continuous‑improvement mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to improve how work gets done.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, lead, coach, and develop a team of 9 AP/AR staff in two locations, ranging from junior to senior experience.   No travel required for this role.
  • Build succession plans and cross‑training to ensure resilience and continuity.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Own audit readiness for transactional accounting, including documentation, explanations, and process clarity for internal and external audits.
  • Contribute to internal audit initiatives and continuous strengthening of financial controls.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including hands‑on exposure to AP and AR.
  • Experience directly supervising AP and/or AR staff.
  • Solid understanding of full‑cycle accounting and month‑end/year-end close processes.
  • Midsized to large company experience
  • Experience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Windcave (payment platform) are assets.
  • A continuous‑improvement mindset and comfort working in a growing, evolving environment.
