Overview

Our client is a growing public oil & gas company based in Calgary.  Currently there is a need to add a Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Analyst to the team. This is a permanent position, created from recent growth and reports directly to the VP Operations.     

Responsibilities:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Analyst to transform data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical models, working closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver data-driven solutions. The successful will report to and work closely with the VP, Operations.  Specific duties include:

• Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights
• Design, build, and maintain BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations
• Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and KPIs
• Support strategic and operational decision-making through data analysis
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Develop and document data models, metrics, and reporting standards
• Perform ad hoc analysis and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
• Identify opportunities to improve data processes, automation, and reporting efficiency

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a similar role
• 2+ years of upstream oil and gas experience
• Proven ability to create and implement reporting dashboards and exception reports
• Experience with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Verdazo)
• Solid understanding of data modeling, KPIs, and reporting best practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Exposure to Wellview, Siteview, Prodview, PAS, JV Nexus, IHS Datahub, Stack DX, CS Explorer, KPA Flex, Abadata Field Ops, Val Nav, Spreadsheets, Snowflake all considered assets
