Our client is a very successful oil & gas services company, headquartered in Calgary and with operations across North America.  Currently they need to add a Senior Corporate Accountant to the team.  This is a permanent role reporting to the Manager Corporate Financial Reporting.       


This hands-on position will appeal to a highly analytical accounting professional who exhibits initiative to apply their knowledge in an innovative and challenging environment. In addition to your technical and analytical experience, personality and corporate culture fit will be critical in the selection of the Senior Corporate Accountant.  The role of Senior Corporate Accountant will report directly to the Manager, Corporate Financial Reporting. Specific duties include:

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist with the preparation of annual and quarterly public financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including note disclosures, working papers, MD&A and the AIF
  • Assist with the preparation of board related materials including audit memos and financial analysis.
  • Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently and accurately achieved.
  • Act as one of the main liaisons with the auditors, including the external auditors and the third-party consultants that complete internal control testing.

Month/Quarter End:

  • Prepare consolidation, intercompany, foreign currency, account analysis, & reconciliations.
  • Complete period-end (monthly and quarterly) cash flow statement

Additional Tasks:

  • Participate in technical accounting research and development of new accounting policies and standards as required.
  • Support the management team with accounting and financial analysis needs.
  • Participate in all accounting related system developments, enhancements, and improvements.
  • Other ad-hoc duties, projects and responsibilities as required.


  • An accounting designation (CPA) with ideally 1+ years’ post designation experience
  • Experience with a large public practice considered an asset
  • Experience in industry on a financial reporting team considered an asset
  • Highly skilled in Excel. Strong knowledge of other MS products (Word, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision is an asset.
