Risk Analyst

Our client is a stable and growing trader of natural gas, crude and soon also LNG. Hybrid work location arrangement.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Risk, the position works closely with the Risk, Traders, Analysts, Finance, Legal and Executive teams to provide support for the Canadian operations.   This role will be responsible for all aspects of crude oil risk analysis.   Work closely with internal and external customers.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enter daily marketing activity into the company’s Pioneer and Entrade trade capture systems.
  • Ensure the setup and monitoring of positions at pipeline locations, various terminals, loading facilities are captured correctly
  • Ensure volume allocation and issues of all crude streams are identified and resolved
  • Ensure crude price capture is correct for settlement and forward valuation for Canadian Stream deals (i.e. Tariffs, WADFs, Loss Allowance)
  • Ensure blending economics and blending structured products are correct
  • Monitor and value inventory levels
  • Monitor and assist with transportation timing
  • Monitor exchange imbalances to ensure that no major imbalances occur and that timing of make-up is captured
  • Create daily position and MTM reports of all crude physical and financial transactions for traders and senior management
  • Confirm daily reports tie out with all traders and schedulers
  • Work with Accounting to verify all physical and financial payments to counterparties
  • Perform business and systems requirements definition, process design, and develop functional and technical design specifications
  • Support upgrades or enhancements to applications and/or interfaces to applications, including testing and implementation

Requirements:

  • University degree in accounting, finance, engineering, math, computer science or other related field
  • 1+ years of direct crude risk support in a trading organization would be an asset
  • Strong Excel, SQL and VBA programming
  • Knowledge of Python, R, and/or database management are considered assets.
