Our public Energy Services Company is located in downtown Calgary.  Currently there is a need to add a Finance Manager to the team.  This is a permanent role reporting to the Controller.


The Manager, Finance, will be responsible for the financial review of the one of our client’s business unit. This will include activities such as the preparation of the monthly reporting documents, analysis of results compared to budget/forecast and prior year, monthly financial presentations, account reconciliations including detailed inventory analysis and ensuring that financial records are maintained in accordance with corporate standards. This position will work closely with the CFO and the Controller to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and integrity in operational reporting. Specific duties include:

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of the businesses financial statements through the month end close process including detailed monthly analysis
  • Prepare and present the monthly operational and financial reporting packages
  • Prepare the business unit's annual budget, rolling quarterly forecasts and weekly updates within established deadlines, including detailed analysis and operational variances
  • Coordinate with management to prepare the capital expenditure program and provide monthly updates on capital spend
  • Facilitate and support the team with annual inventory counts. Prepare variance analysis reports and discuss significant differences with senior management. Work with the CFO and the Controller to monitor progress
  • Ensure compliance with the company's accounting policies, procedures and internal controls and work with business unit staff to establish standard processes that comply with companywide processes
  • Work with the corporate reporting team to facilitate requests made by the external auditors
  • Work with corporate reporting team to ensure annual CSOX program is planned and performed appropriately
  • Manage credit reviews and credit limits within operating entities
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with operational staff and financial reporting
  • Work to be a key expert on IT systems used in the financial processes, including inventory management systems, ERP systems and billing systems
  • Special projects as required



  • CPA Designation required
  • A minimum of 10 years related accounting experience, including reporting, budgeting/forecasting, financial presentations and inventory analysis
  • Oil and Gas services experience
  • Strong communication skills with dealing with all aspects of the business, including the corporate group and the operations team
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Experience with Great Plains, Spira, Power BI and MR is an asset
