Lead, Accounting Research and Policy



Our client is a midsize to large Calgary company with national operations.


This role will be responsible for monitoring changes to IFRS and US GAAP continuous disclosure requirements, coordinating the implementation of new financial accounting and reporting standards and coordinating education sessions. This individual will provide a quality assurance for the Reporting Team by completing independent reviews and disclosure checklists. In addition, the individual will assist with process improvement initiatives.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Review all financial statement and continuous disclosure documents for compliance including legal entity financial statements 
  • Monitor changes to IFRS and US GAAP and continuous disclosure rules 
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memorandums including Board and Audit Committee documents 
  • Coordinate finance education sessions 
  • Work with other members of team to ensure that all financial reporting and disclosure standards are met 
  • Ensure adequate accounting and reporting controls are in place to meet requirements for SOX compliance 
  • Establish priorities and deadlines for implementation of new accounting and financial reporting standards
  • Work with Legal and Treasury Teams regarding continuous disclosure matters


  • Accounting designation
  • A minimum of 4 years work experience including research and complex accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of continuous disclosure rules in Canada and the United States
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving and decision making capability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to present information clearly and consistently
  • Superior project management, organizational and time management skills
