Our opportunities include permanent employment and both short and long-term contracts.

Our NE Calgary based client is a niche service provider for midstream and upstream international oil & gas.  They are well established and have enjoyed steady growth.  This is a permanent position reporting to the Director.

Responsibilities

Our client is a very collaborative organization, with the Commercial team is actively involved with evaluating and obtaining new business opportunities. They work closely with Sales in responding to bids and tenders and setting up the parameters of contracts.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work on the coordination, commercial review and preparation of all bids and tenders and enter negotiations with relevant counterparties where necessary
  • Conduct review of all proposed commercial and legal terms and where necessary, enter negotiations with relevant parties to ensure acceptable terms are agreed
  • Support the sales team and the bid process by: ensuring all bids are constructed in accordance with risk profile; coordinating bid package submission to the customer; assisting in implementation and tracking of bid packages in accordance with ISO procedures; liaising with potential customers to ensure all service levels relating to bid packages are being met
  • Ensure all bids and contracts are compliant with risk profile and contracting guidelines
  • Maintain master template agreements and issue contract amendments as required
  • Review and assist in any other commercial agreements as required, including but not limited to Agency Agreements, License Agreements, and Supplier/Vendor Contracts
  • Ensure all Commercial operations and practices are carried out in accordance with Commercial Department requirements and company polices/procedures
  • Take ownership of HSE issues and support the corporate HSE program
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned by the Director     

Requirements

While this role has a strong technical component, equally important is the culture fit within the group.  The successful candidate will be a team player with a hands-on attitude.  Small to medium sized company experience preferred and ability to work well within team environment a must.  The successful candidate will be open minded as they learn the business. Specific requirements include:

  • University degree combined with additional education relevant to this role
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in business management, contract administration, legal or a closely related field is strongly preferred
  • Ability to analyze and understand contract conditions and to apply and comply with statutory legislation and regulations
  • Experience with international contract and contract negotiation is strongly preferred
  • Be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to work independently and productively
  • Able to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess strong communication skills both written and verbal, along with demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills
  • Strong technical writing skills are required
  • Must be willing to support a significant amount of administrative duties
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook 365
